S3.EP5 - Sean Wheelock with music from The Tins

Sean Wheelock is the play by play commentator for Bellator Fighting Championships and one of the best known commentators in Mixed Martial Arts. Over his career, Wheelock has broadcast MMA in 12 countries, including Japan, Brazil, and the Netherlands. During our conversation, Sean touches on such topics as: his feelings about working for controversial MMA executive Jerry Millen, how commentators shouldn't oversell fights, why the tournament format works, his various influences from the announcing world, and how he's actively working to help bring about change in the judging & officiating of MMA. The Tins formed in upstate New York and are currently based out of Buffalo. This Indie/pop/rock trio consists of three friends, brought together by their passion for music. Their guitar work that makes you think you’re about to drop into a good old rock n roll track, it quickly (and quirkily) adds fun keys and a fuzzy bass line that takes the song somewhere totally different; an almost perfectly seasoned musical stew. For more, check out www.thetinsmusic.com. Download their self-titled EP here: thetinsmusic.bandcamp.com. You can learn more about Sean Wheelock's Rules of MMA seminar at www.rulesofmma.com. S2.EP10 - Lili VonSchtupp with music from Amanda Shires

The Los Angeles Times calls her 'The Foul-Mouthed, Buxom Godmother of LA Burlesque'. "In this land of the thin, blond ideal, Lili VonSchtupp draws crowds to a dive bar in Hollywood every week to celebrate real women with real bodies. In case anyone forgets anything, VonSchtupp packs an emergency kit with fish-net stockings, spare pasties and an extra g-string thong. She calls herself the "den mother of the best sorority ever." Lili is the producer of LA's longest running weekly burlesque show, The Monday Night Tease. She also provides the signature background laughter and audio production for Mike Schmidt's 'The 40 Year Old Boy' podcast. Providing music from this episode is Amanda Shires. Americana UK writes: "Shires is a damn talented and idiosyncratic song-writer...She is a fiddling maestro. At times her energetic, jittery vocals and eccentric lyrical subjects mark her out as a young female heir to the godfather of strange, Mr. Tom Waits. In her more conventional moments Shires sounds like the weird young niece of Dolly Parton." We'll share 2 songs from her album, Carrying Lightning. For more from Lili VonSchtupp go to MondayNightTease.com and BurlesqueClasses.com. To learn more about the music for Amanda Shires, check out AmandaShires.net.

S2.EP6 - Pandora Boxx with music from The Ne Plus Ultra

Pandora Boxx (aka Michael Steck) is best known from his appearance as a contestant on Season 2 of the LOGO Network's smash-hit reality competition, RuPaul's Drag Race. Despite not winning, Pandora proved to be the break-out star and was named by Entertainment Weekly “as THEIR America’s Next Drag Superstar.”  EW.com also called Pandora’s “the most controversial elimination of the season.” That popularity lead to becoming a drag professor on the spin-off show called RuPaul’s Drag U. During our conversation, Pandora touches on such topics as: the VERY REAL stress involved in the actual Drag Race competition, the sometimes inexplicably subjective judging, and what very macho, straight punk-rock legend was admittedly 'turned on' by Pandora's attitude. Providing the soundtrack this week is a phenomenal musical hybrid, from Houston, TX, known as The Ne Plus Ultra. Combining elements from trip-hop, dance, rock and 1960's lounge music, The Ne Plus Ultra creates an awe-inspiring auditory experience. We're proud to present 2 selections from their current album, Drop In. To further enter the world of Pandora Boxx, check out www.pandoraboxx.com.
